On 26 June 2020, the Law on Amendments to the Energy Act was published in the State Gazette. You can find detailed information in the

Firm’s Legal Bulletin on the topic here: https://bit.ly/35zA7QS

The amendments thus made to the Energy Act are in line with the requirements of Directive (EU) 2019/944 of the European Parliament and of the Council of the EU of 5 June 2019 on common rules for the internal market in electricity and amending Directive 2012/27/EU, as well as in fulfillment of the commitment of the Republic of Bulgaria as a member state of the European Union to fully liberalize its electricity market.

To achieve this goal, non-household consumers connected to a low-voltage electricity distribution network are obliged to enter the free electricity market from 1 October 2020.

With this issue, we present a summary of the forthcoming changes that will occur in connection with the liberalization of the electricity market, as well as their possible impact on the persons who will be affected by them.
